SSL Settings
When you apply for a visit online, it is necessary to send personal information for the visitors to the Imperial Household Agency's servers. To maintain the confidentiality of this information, pages that ask you to enter information use encryption when sending data to and from your browser. The following section describes how to check your browser's settings to verify that encrypted connections are enabled.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0
Select 'Internet Options...' from the 'Tools' menu in Internet Explorer.



: Select "Internet Options…" from the "Tools" menu.

Select the 'Advanced' tab and check the 'Use SSL 2.0' and 'Use SSL 3.0' checkboxes in the 'Security' section.


: Select the "Advanced" tab (A).
: Verify that "Use SSL 2.0" and "Use SSL 3.0" are checked in the "Security" section (B).
: These settings must be checked in order to apply for a visit online.

 


FireFox 8.0
Select 'Options...' from the 'Tools' menu in FireFox.



: Select "Options…" from the "Tools" menu.

Select 'Advanced' in the sidebar and check the 'Use SSL 3.0' checkbox in the 'Encryption' section.



: Click the "Advanced" icon (A) in the sidebar.
: Verify that "Use SSL 3.0" is checked in the "Encryption" section (B).
: These settings must be checked in order to apply for a visit online.
