※Your application has not been successfully submitted until 

a 12-digit application number is displayed on the screen during the final step.



Online applications are accepted daily. 

After you submit your application, the allocated capacity displayed on our website 

will remain the same until the end of the day (23:59). 

If the total number of all applicants for that day exceeds the allocated capacity, 

a lottery selection will be conducted. 

An email notification of the results will be emailed approximately within 3 working days.

※Since 1 November 2008, admission is charged. 

※Time slot 9:20, 11:20, 13:20, 15:20, and 16:20 are English guided tours for foreign visitors only. 

Please note that applications from Japanese nationals are not accepted.

※The Gepparo will not be open for viewing due to maintenance work from around September 2024 to March 2025.

※Due to the maintenance work, the water level in the pond is lowered 

  during the period from mid-December 2024 until the end of March 2025.

Part of the route will be a detour.



1.Visitors younger than 12 years (including toddlers and infants) are not permitted to enter.  

2.Applications submitted by a proxy will not be accepted.

3.Visitors must take a tour guided by our staff, which takes about 60 min. Free access is not permitted. 

　The visitor’s path includes narrow stone bridges without handrails, large steps, and small hills.  

　Please note that you will be walking on unstable ground.

4.Application form requires the full name, complete home address (or passport number), 

　and age of the main applicant and any accompanying persons. 

　Incomplete information will result in an unsuccessful application.

5.No changes can be made after the application has been submitted.

6.If you wish to visit Katsura Imperial Villa and Shugakuin Imperial Villa or Kyoto Sento Imperial Palace on the same day, 

　please choose a time slot that allows you to travel between the locations, as the locations are far apart.　

　Please note that visitors younger than 18 years old are not permitted 

to enter Shugakuin Imperial Villa and Kyoto Sento Imperial Palace. 

7.To ensure that as many people as possible can participate, 

　visits to the same location within the same month are limited to once per month. 

　If you wish to visit more than once within the same month, 

please submit a new application after your current permitted visit has been completed.

8.Visitors are not permitted to enter the buildings.
